Society pays a high price for public safety relative to public housing. What if shifting more funding to housing reduced crime and therefor the need to spend on enforcement?
It would be interesting to learn the housing status of individuals charged with crimes to determine if criminals are more likely to be precariously housed than law-abiding citizens.
Armed with evidence of such a correlation, perhaps our community could justify shifts in how we fund priorities.
