The city and counties could sync the traffic lights better on long streets (e.g. Broad, Staples Mill, Patterson), so that when going the given speed limit less stopping and waiting of cars happens, which reduces carbon emissions.
Same for better stream lining the length of green and red phases based on time of day. I often stand in a left lane traffic light where 6-8 cars are waiting and only 4 can pass during the green phase.
